Mid City Beat

New Orleans Mid-City area is one that has seen many changes and growth post-katrina. It is also one of the best places to sneak away from the tourist and check out a vast number of great local restaurants, bars and amazing scenery. Home to the fast growing Bayou Boogaloo fest in the Spring which offers a great chance to dip you toes in the Bayou St. John. Mid-City does not have a shortage of events, another favorite staple for Mid-City is the Endymion parade which brings all the locals out to enjoy this one of a kind parade. Proximity to City Park is a huge perk for this area, home to numerous festivals and events including Voodoo, Beignet, and Celebration in the Oaks, just to name a few, City Park is an amazing break from the city life, right in Mid-City’s backyard.

City Park

There is always something do at City Park, but one of my favorite things to do is rent a kayak with my son and ride around through the sculpture garden and under moss covered trees. You can also rent fun 'party' bikes and other stuff. And the convenience of not having to haul your own out there makes it even more fun!

Rosalie Apothecary

One of Mid City's best hidden gems is Rosalie. A beautiful local apothecary, they carry a beautiful selection of herbs and natural remedies. They also offer really wonderful classes on a variety on topics. Located down the block from Parkway Bakery, it's a great place to pop by after you get your Po-Boy fix.
